sports clubs to increase her skill base. Having decided fairly early
on that sports injuries and outpatients was her calling, she
specialised in musculoskeletal outpatients physiotherapy.
Julie has attended many post-graduate training courses, is qualified
in acupuncture for pain relief and is very manual therapy based.
This means she is very hands on and also does a variety of
techniques including manipulation, soft tissue release and core

Diane Lee series course for the thoracic spine, lumbar spine, sacro
iliac joint and lower limb - only the second intake of physios in the

Emma qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1996. She
secured a static post in musculoskeletal physiotherapy as a junior
physiotherapist and so specialised in this area of physiotherapy
very early on in her career. While training to become a
physiotherapist, Emma also completed her ITEC Diploma in
anatomy, physiology and body massage and has since gone on to
gain qualifications in reflexology, seated acupressure massage,
hot stone fusion massage and facial massage and skin care.
Emma is a certified Body Control Pilates matwork instructor. She
is also a certified matwork instructor with the Australian
Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI), and has assisted the
APPI in teaching physiotherapists how to teach Pilates for
rehabilitation.
Emma has a particular interest in myofascial release techniques,
and applies this knowledge and skill to both her physiotherapy
and massage treatments.
In recent years, Emma has also worked in the occupational health
setting. This has enabled Emma to see her role as a
physiotherapist from a different perspective and has highlighted
the importance of assisting patients with self management by
providing appropriate exercises, advice and reassurance. Emma
believes that physiotherapy is all about teamwork, with the
physiotherapist and patient working together to promote, restore
and achieve health and well being.
